HOW IT WORKS

HOW RED LIGHT THERAPY WORKS

Think of it as photosynthesis for your body. Our Mychondria panels deliver medical-grade photobiomodulation — concentrated, non-ionising wavelengths of red (660nm) and near-infrared (850nm) light, with no UV and no damaging heat.

Under stress, your cells produce excess nitric oxide, which binds to the mitochondria and blocks oxygen absorption, throttling energy production. Red and near-infrared photons are absorbed by an enzyme called cytochrome C oxidase, which physically detaches that nitric oxide and lets oxygen back into the respiratory chain.

The result is an immediate jump in ATP production — the cellular energy your body needs to repair, replicate and perform.

STEP BY STEP

WHAT A SESSION IS LIKE.

01

SKIN EXPOSED

Light has to reach bare skin, so strip down to what you're comfortable with over the target area.

02

SET THE DISTANCE

Six to twelve inches from the panel for deep tissue healing; slightly further back for skin and surface treatment.

03

LIE BACK

Ten to twenty minutes of exposure. You'll feel gentle warmth and nothing else.

04

TURN OVER

If you're treating front and back, we split the time.

05

REPEAT OFTEN

The benefits are cumulative — three to seven sessions a week is where the real results show up.

BENEFITS

WHY PEOPLE BOOK IT.

660NM — SKIN & WOUNDS

Absorbed superficially. Accelerates wound healing, stimulates collagen and elastin, and calms skin inflammation.

850NM — DEEP TISSUE

Penetrates 5–10cm through tissue and bone. Reduces deep joint inflammation and speeds muscle recovery.

BETTER SLEEP

Systemic regulation of circadian rhythm — one of the most consistently reported effects.

MORE CELLULAR ENERGY

Up-regulates ATP production, which is what fatigue and slow healing usually come down to.

ANTI-AGEING

Collagen and elastin stimulation for skin quality and tone.

NOT THE RIGHT FIT IF

AFTERCARE

AFTER YOUR SESSION.

  • →No downtime at all — you can train, work or drive straight afterwards.
  • →Mild warmth or a light flush on the skin is normal and settles within minutes.
  • →Hydrate. Cellular repair uses water.
  • →Consistency matters far more than session length. Three short sessions a week beats one long one.

FAQS

QUESTIONS WE GET ASKED.

What is the difference between 660nm and 850nm?

+

660nm red light is absorbed superficially and works on skin: wound healing, collagen, elastin and inflammation. 850nm near-infrared penetrates 5 to 10cm through tissue and bone, reaching muscle and joints for deep inflammation and recovery. Our panels deliver both in the same session.

How often should I do red light therapy?

+

Three to seven times a week. The cellular benefits are cumulative, so frequency matters more than duration — regular short sessions produce far better results than one long session a month. Most clients pair it with another treatment on the same visit.

Is red light therapy the same as a tanning bed?

+

No, and it's important. Tanning beds emit ultraviolet radiation that damages skin. Red light therapy uses non-ionising red and near-infrared wavelengths with zero UV output — it stimulates repair rather than causing damage, and it won't tan or burn you.

Do I need to undress?

+

The light needs to reach bare skin over the area you're treating, so undress to whatever you're comfortable with. You're in a private space and we provide eye protection.

When will I notice results?

+

Recovery and sleep changes are usually the first thing people report, often within the first week or two of consistent use. Skin and collagen changes are slower — expect six to eight weeks of regular sessions.
